Arrive on scene with the right information in hand

Better Information for a better response

Your First Responders are a precious resource. As an EMS Administrator, you want to be confident that EMTs and Paramedics are being dispatched appropriately and efficiently. There’s nothing more frustrating than arriving on a scene with inaccurate information or finding out that a response was a waste of resources.

The Priority Dispatch System helps Emergency Dispatchers ask the right questions at the right time to supply your EMTs and Paramedics with the exact information they need to prepare for the scene and provide the highest quality response once they arrive.

The Right Information at the Right Time

Unstructured Emergency Dispatch can result in incomplete information that leaves your EMTs and Paramedics unprepared for what they’ll encounter at the scene. By using a protocol-based Emergency Dispatch system, Emergency Dispatchers and responders share a common, consistent set of information across every call.

Local Control of Your Response Configuration

No two departments are alike. There are differences in resources, priorities, and politics that come into play. During implementation, we work with the EMS Chief and department leadership to determine what situations require which resources. Together, we make sure you can serve your community best with what you have at your disposal.

Scene Safety Comes First

Our highest priority is ensuring your team has the right information to respond to a scene effectively and safely, regardless of what’s waiting on the other end. Questions establish scene safety first, followed by other essential information.

Post-Dispatch and Pre-Arrival Instructions

Emergency Dispatchers can instruct callers with Post-Dispatch Instructions that go step-by-step through potentially life-saving actions like applying a tourniquet or assisting in childbirth. These instructions are approved by the Medical Director during implementation of the system.

Essential Diagnostic Tools

The Priority Dispatch System has built-in diagnostic tools to walk callers through some of the most common – and not-so-common – emergencies that require immediate action. This way, medical care can begin before responders even arrive.

Questions EMS Administrators typically ask us:

What impact will this have on our response capabilities?

A fast response doesn’t mean much if you’re sending the wrong resources or arriving without all the needed information. We work with you before implementation to review your response capabilities and decide what teams get dispatched when. From there, Emergency Dispatchers always know who and what to send when a call comes in.

Will protocols slow down the time to dispatch?

The Priority Dispatch System cuts down on Emergency Dispatchers fishing for irrelevant, time-wasting information. When following the protocols, the right resources can be sent faster, giving responders essential information while en route, saving valuable time and keeping crews safer while they work. The latest data obtained from our data center states that the average time to dispatch for those incidents where life is immediately at risk is 57 seconds, with the highest acuity calls being dispatched in 29 seconds.

What information will EMTs and Paramedics get that they aren’t already getting?

Your team can expect to get more complete descriptions of the status of the patient, while callers will get step-by-step instructions to provide potentially life-saving aid while they wait for responders to arrive.

What input will I have in how the system is set up?

Every implementation incorporates the input of key stakeholders to provide the best service with the resources available. We work with you on a thorough implementation plan, setting up your Emergency Communications Center to triage calls according to your agency-defined response policy.
