Review the Highlights:
Medical v14.0
Case Entry
A new rule, axiom, and pop-up warning were added to Case Entry regarding incidents when multiple MEDICAL patients are identified for specific Chief Complaints. These patients are best evaluated and cared for individually, and Emergency Dispatchers should direct the caller to have any additional bystanders call 9-1-1.
Protocol 3: Animal Bites/Attacks
Protocol 4: Assault/Sexual Assault/Stun Gun
Protocol 17: Falls
Protocol 29: Traffic Collision/Transportation Incident
Protocol 30: Traumatic Injuries (Specific)
These protocols have had a Determinant Code added for “Neurological symptoms mentioned (without priority symptoms)”. The 14-D-6 Determinant Descriptor was changed to “Suspected neck injury/Mentioned neurological symptoms” as well. A new axiom lists the symptoms that should be considered a potential spinal cord injury and emphasizes that these patients should receive an immediate response.
CPR Protocols
Updated to establish clear and effective pathways for managing OBVIOUS DEATH due to a suspected traumatic arrest and Caller Refused CPR identified during the Pre-Arrival Instructions. New bereavement statements add guidance for what to say in these challenging scenarios.
Protocol 2: Allergies (Reactions)/Envenomations (Stings, Bites)
Protocol P: Epinephrine (Adrenaline) Delivery Device Instructions
Several changes were made to accommodate epinephrine nasal spray devices as well as define CLEAR SYMPTOMS of an allergic reaction. Patients exhibiting these symptoms are now advised to take epinephrine, even if the medication is not prescribed to them.

Review the Highlights:
PPDS v7.1 Updates
Global
PAST Determinant Codes and any related COLD CALL pathways are now qualified for specific scenarios for victim callers who are no longer at the scene of an incident.
Protocol 131: Traffic Collision/Transportation Incident
Some incident types will now qualify a MULTI-VEHICLE pile-up Determinant Code if the new “MULTI-VEHICLE pile-up (enter estimate):” answer choice is selected on the Key Question “How many vehicles are involved?”
The Post-Dispatch Instruction for moving vehicles out of a dangerous location now has two alternates, allowing agencies to determine if this instruction should always be given, only be given if there aren’t any injuries, or only be given if there are minor or no injuries reported.
Protocol 132: Traffic Violation/Complaint/Hazard
The HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS definition was changed to TRAFFIC/ROAD HAZARD. The Sub-Chief Complaint and 132-C-2 Determinant Descriptor were changed accordingly.
