Priority Dispatch Collaborates with GoodSAM to Integrate World's First Mobile AED Registry into ProQA

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—July 17, 2024—Priority Dispatch®, the global leader in emergency dispatch solutions, is proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with GoodSAM® to integrate their AED registry into Priority Dispatch’s ProQA® software. This partnership will utilize GoodSAM's fixed location and its world-first mobile AED registry to enhance emergency response capabilities and potentially save countless lives.

GoodSAM's Revolutionary Mobile AED Registry

The GoodSAM community has meticulously mapped thousands of Public Access AEDs, capturing the locations of fixed AEDs through its user-friendly app. By simply taking a picture of a fixed location AED and uploading it, users contribute to a comprehensive and verified AED mapping system. However, recognizing the vast number of mobile AEDs—those carried in vehicles such as police cars, taxis, and by first aid trained individuals—GoodSAM has introduced the world's first mobile AED registry.

With this new feature, anyone carrying an AED in their vehicle can register it through the GoodSAM responder app by clicking "I have an AED." This transforms both the individual and their AED into a valuable resource, instantly available in emergency situations.

Empowering Dispatchers and Enhancing Public Safety

This collaboration between Priority Dispatch and GoodSAM ensures that emergency medical dispatchers using ProQA® can now access the most comprehensive AED data available, including both fixed and mobile AEDs. This integration allows dispatchers to guide 911 callers to the nearest available AED swiftly, significantly improving response times during cardiac emergencies. ProQA will also utilize GoodSAM’s video functionality in a future release.

Statements from Leadership

"With the integration of GoodSAM’s mobile AED registry into ProQA, we are taking a significant step forward in empowering our dispatchers and the public to respond more effectively to cardiac emergencies," said Brian Dale, President of Priority Dispatch. "This collaboration is about leveraging technology to save lives, and we are thrilled to partner with GoodSAM in this endeavor."

"This integration is a game-changer in emergency response," added Dr. Mark Wilson, co-founder of GoodSAM. "By making mobile AED data accessible to 911 dispatchers, we ensure that every second counts and every AED is utilized to its fullest potential."

Critical Need for Early Defibrillation

In the U.S. alone, there are approximately 360,000 EMS-assessed cardiac arrests outside of hospitals each year, with survival rates remaining alarmingly low. Early defibrillation, along with early recognition and CPR, are critical factors in improving survival chances. Bystander action prior to EMS arrival can increase survival rates by two to three times.
